May 12

On this day in 1941 Konrad Zuse presented the Z3, the world's first working programmable, fully automatic computer, in Berlin.  In a sense one could trace this post's genesis to that red-letter day.

In a similar way, the quality of our relationships depends on things we do long before we ever meet that significant other.  If we build our habits and therefore character into a person who acts the way a good husband/wife does, then we're giving ourselves a far better chance of succeeding in marriage.  If, on the other hand, we take on habits and therefore character which is consistent with a poor husband/wife, we're undermining our marriage ahead of time.
